What you will learn
Week 1 – Foundations, scissor techniques & first practice
- Safety at the grooming table
- Correct restraint of the dog
- Workspace organisation: hygiene, order, safe routines
- Coat types and skin care basics
- Basic anatomy terms
- Tools: scissors, clippers, attachment combs, brushes, combs, de-matting tools
- Combing and brushing
- Gentle de-matting technique
- First application on real dogs
- Holding the scissors
- Straight, curved and thinning scissors
- Lines, curves, transitions
- Building the shape
- Exercises on real models with different coat types
- Nail, ear and paw care: demonstration and practice
Week 2 – Daily practice on real breeds
- Product choice and dilution
- Conditioning
- Protecting ears and eyes
- Blow-drying and stretch drying
- Drying direction by coat structure
- Preparation before the cut
- Hygiene areas: belly, paws, sanitary area
- First simple scissor shaping: paws, transitions, edges
- Preparation, bathing, drying, finish
- Quality check: symmetry, skin protection, clean finish

- Practice
- Regular work on real dogs from the running salon from day 3, daily in week 2
- Breeds
- Depending on availability: Yorkshire terrier, Maltese, Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso, Havanese, mixed breeds
- Location
- A working grooming salon in Berlin-Reinickendorf
By the end of the course you will carry out your first complete basic grooming sessions independently.
